Destription::

The Commissioner’s Office seeks an administrative assistant to support and serve the administrative and operational needs of Department agencies and affiliated licensing entities.   This is a confidential position responsible for a wide variety of administrative functions and requires a high level of expertise in office management skills as well as well-developed written and oral communication skills.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Serves as department business liaison and administrative assistant to the Commissioner
  • Serves as member of Commissioner’s senior management team
  • Manages Commissioner’s Office and support functions
  • Serves as liaison with Bureau of Real Estate Management and building owner

To be successful in the position you must possess knowledge of and experience in:

  • Managing state government processes and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of state procurement policies,
  • Knowledge of state human resource personnel policies
  • Knowledge of special applications including Advantage, ALMS and Fortis
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of legislative and rulemaking process
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills

Qualifications: 

Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of the principles and practices of office processes and administrative functions to perform advanced secretarial tasks in assisting management with statewide programs and policies, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making on complex administrative matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Secretary and Secretary Associate.
