The Department also promotes public health, operates two state psychiatric hospitals, and provides oversight to health care providers.

 Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (“DDPC”) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving Mainers with severe mental illness. As a member of a statewide community of caregivers, DDPC collaborates with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness and their community and personal supports. We provide recovery-oriented, respectful, compassionate, and effective psychiatric care and treatment in the least restrictive, safest, and most therapeutic environment we can create.

Job duties:

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, in partnership with the Senior Psychologists on staff, and as part of a multidisciplinary team the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) will provide direct services including individual therapy, developing psychosocial treatment plans, assessment, providing clinical consultation to patent/staff consultations, conducting research, instructing students and staff, etc. Work is performed under limited supervision, but with clinical oversight.



  • Working knowledge of cognitive-behavioral therapy, diagnostics, and demonstrated experience working with patients in both individual and group treatment settings.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker LCSW, current and unrestricted issued from the appropriate Maine State Board.
  • Knowledge and experience with evidence-based practices, including trauma informed care framework.
  • Strong clerical/administrative skills including personal computer skills (Microsoft Office software and EHR).
  • Successful experience working within a multidisciplinary team setting.

  Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), as issued by the Maine Board of Social Worker Licensure.

Value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 14.11% of pay
