DMR is seeking well qualified candidates for the Accounting Associate II position based out of Augusta and traveling to West Boothbay Harbor several times a month to provide critical accounting support for the department. 

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is complex office and administrative accounting support services work requiring a solid knowledge in applying bookkeeping principles and practices in providing assistance to individuals, businesses, and corporations. Responsibilities require using independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters.  The duties and responsibilities include reviewing, revising, verifying and/or adjusting financial documents; researching, compiling, analyzing complex information to reach a conclusion and make recommendations; advising others requesting technical assistance; applying to routine individual cases an explanation and interpretation of applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures, codes, and/or documentation requirements.  

 

Typical Job Duties Include:  Review, code, and process accounts payables, accounts receivable, travel expenses, contract payments, and perform billing audits; prepare financial and statistical reports such as cash receipts, profit and loss statements; review and submit travel requests for approval, etc.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of Generally Accepted Account Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and agency accounting systems, procedures, and structures; knowledge and experience of bookkeeping principles and practices; ability to accurately verify, code, compute, and reconcile data; ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting and financial reports and statements; ability to organize and maintain computerized and/or manual files.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices to perform complex work in assisting taxpayers on complex tax matters, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters.

 

PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to applicants with the following:  Excellent computer skills (Word and Excel).  Proven attention to detail, coding and accurate data entry.  Background that includes general accounting experience in general ledger and reconciliation methods.

Value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $14.31 biweekly

Value of State-paid Health Insurance*:

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)

Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
