The mission for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC), within which this position is located, is to develop and deliver services to preserve, protect, and promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Maine.

Job duties:

You will serve as the WIC Nutrition Coordinator and administer the functions of nutrition education, certification and food delivery in the Maine Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program according to federal and state regulations. You will participate in delivering, interpreting and evaluating nutrition services delivery policies, procedures and protocols in the grantee WIC agencies throughout the state.

This position will also:
• Oversee the nutrition and breastfeeding staff at WIC State Office and the Local Agency staff.
• Handle the Management Evaluation Reviews that provide oversight to the eight contracted Local Agencies.
• Be responsible for the WIC Clinic Management and the management and rollout of the new EBT system.
• Monitor potential over-issuance of WIC food benefits and dual participation reports, and communicate findings with local agency staff as needed.
• Train local agency WIC staff on policy and regulatory changes.
• Participate in the WIC rulemaking process.
• Participate on SPIRIT work groups and assist with planning and development of SPIRIT MIS changes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 A Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a closely-related field; and three (3) years of professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, and/or evaluation of health programs or services; -OR- an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred candidates will have:

o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
o Knowledge and experience with WIC Nutrition Regulations.
o The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners.
o Computer skills, including knowledge of Excel.
o Licensed Dietitian with the State of Maine.

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $444.68 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $422.45 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $400.211 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $377.98 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2018.
