Job Description: 

This position works primarily out of the Lewiston Career Center at 5 Mollison Way and frequently at the Wilton Career Center satellite office. Work includes counseling persons with disabilities in selecting, preparing for, and following a rehabilitation program leading to employment. Typical duties include determining eligibility for rehabilitation services guidance, counseling, and supporting individuals with disabilities in a vocational program. This is a caseload that serves adults with physical, cognitive and mental health disabilities in Franklin County. Occasional statewide travel is required.

Job Duties:

  • Counsels clients in the rehabilitation process, develops a supportive relationship, and elicits client feedback and participation in order to provide rehabilitation services to clients.
  • Evaluates and interprets client’s medical and physical information, interviews and determines initial and continuing eligibility for services.
  • Assesses client needs and available resources to determine eligibility and develop and implement a comprehensive and individualized plan for employment.
  • Maintains accurate documentation using AWARE computer-based client data system.
  • Consults with representatives of schools, public and private agencies, and employers to coordinate training, treatment, counseling, job coaching, and related rehabilitation programs in order to assist clients towards successful employment.
  • Develops and manages a budget plan to ensure effective delivery of client services.
  • Explains rights of fair hearings and appeals and negotiates solutions and agreements with clients in order to meet client needs, agency goals, and minimize appeals.
  • Works closely with Support Staff, Case Managers, Rehabilitation Counselors, Job Developers, and Job Coaches to promote employment and ensure needs of the individual clients are met based on Federal and State mandated guidelines, and timeframes.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree in a field related to vocational rehabilitation and 2 years of experience demonstrating knowledges and abilities in assisting individuals with disabilities, employers and other stakeholders with their employment and workforce needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. Strong organization, prioritization, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are necessary.
