This is structure and craft work in the maintenance and repair of primarily cars and light duty trucks, and some medium trucks with gasoline and diesel engines. 

  • Ensure that vehicles and equipment are maintained in a safe, operable condition to maximize life in accordance with manufacturer specifications and per policy.
  • Services vehicles and equipment on a scheduled basis and identifies and makes required repairs in order to perform preventive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of scan tools necessary to diagnose and repair computer controlled vehicles.
  • Records work performed to document repairs made.
  • Installs and repairs vehicle accessory equipment.
  • Assists and performs snow removal duties.


Four (4) years experience and/or education in the maintenance and repair of automotive, environmental and/or construction equipment.


Applicants must possess a valid State of Maine Driver’s License and Maine State Vehicle Inspection License Class A & D. This position requires mandatory overtime on short notice at times to assist with new vehicles, vehicle repairs, snow removal, and to perform repairs to snowplowing vehicles and equipment. Employees in this class are required to provide their own hand & air mechanic tools to perform the required tasks.

Level 4:  85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $377.98 biweekly
