BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:  This position is the ‘go-to’ answer site for the entire Department. This important member of the Department’s Information Center will be providing front line services and assistance to the public at the MDIFW headquarters. This position serves as the central switchboard for the Augusta headquarters; often handling up to 200 calls each day and responding to numerous daily email requests/letters from the public about hunting, fishing, recreational vehicle registration/operation, nuisance wildlife and all related laws. Additionally, this position provides newspaper-clipping service to staff and maintains a stock of publications in the front lobby for distribution to the public.  Daily maintenance, updates, and edits of the department’s website as directed by the Department’s web coordinator is also required.  This position assists with the retail sale of merchandise to the public in person as well as through the online store.


This position involves full range operation of computers, period updates to the Department’s website using Adobe Dreamweaver (training provided), entering, maintaining, manipulating, retrieving, and printing data as well as using a variety of other standard and specialized office equipment to complete a wide variety of tasks.


This position also requires extensive daily contact with the public in person, over the phone, and in writing; providing a wide variety of accurate information regarding agency work programs, laws, rules, policies/procedures and responding to inquiries and complaints.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.

Value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 15.37% of pay, Employee Pays: 7.65% of pay
Value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $13.13 biweekly

Value of State-paid Health Insurance*:

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $444.68 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $422.45 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $400.21 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $377.98 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2018.
