This is investigative and protective services work of a managerial nature in planning, coordinating, directing, and evaluating programs, policies, and procedures for treatment of residents at a juvenile correctional facility.  Responsibilities include implementing and interpreting residential procedures, coordinating program activities, and overseeing juvenile care and treatment programs.  Work is performed under limited supervision.


  • Plans, directs, and oversees juvenile care and treatment programs in order to ensure staff compliance with established laws, rules, and regulations and effective program implementation and operation.
  • Coordinates, implements, and evaluates in-service training in order to ensure qualified staff.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees resident movement and security policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance, maintain order, and safeguard residents and staff.
  • Reviews resident escapes and associated security issues in order to identify systemic problems and implement appropriate changes.
  • Directs, oversees, and evaluates performance of area supervisors and related staff in order to provide an effective and secure juvenile program.
  • Plans, directs, and evaluates resident programs in order to provide therapeutic and extracurricular activities within the institution and/or unit of assignment.
  • Reviews program, identifies issues, and discusses with staff in order to maintain program effectiveness and consistency.  
  • Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures and practices such as: AA/EEO, recruitment, employment, position classification, performance appraisals, training, discipline, contract administration, human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies, and employee safety.

An eight (8) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Social Sciences, Psychology or a related field with knowledge of correctional or risk reduction programming, including two (2) years of experience in a correctional environment (institutions or community corrections) and with correctional case management practices.

  • Level 4:  85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $392.49 biweekly

*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
