The Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry is recruiting for a full-time Resource Management Coordinator for the Maine Forest Service/Forest Policy and Management Division in Augusta.

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:  This Field Team Leader, or FTL position, is a position with statewide responsibilities. Beyond managing a geographically dispersed staff, other FTL responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of a complex regulatory framework, coordinating technical assistance to municipalities with respect to the Tree Growth Tax Law, and advising the Division Director about the allocation of field resources.  The position requires both high level technical and people skills.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:  (These are required to successfully perform the work assigned).

Knowledge of natural resource or conservation management principles and practices.

Knowledge of environmental issues relating to and affecting natural resources.

Knowledge of social and economic issues relating to and affecting natural resources.

Knowledge of modern research methods, sources, practices, and techniques.

Ability to plan and oversee the work of subordinates, coworkers, and teams.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to write clearly and effectively.

Ability to resolve conflicts when dealing with diverse groups within the community.

Ability to work effectively both as a team leader and a team member.

Ability to conceptualize, understand, and prioritize issues involving natural resource or conservation management practices.

Ability to utilize standard computer software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires background combination of education and/or experience demonstrating technical expertise in natural resource program management or position specific expertise.

Preferred qualifications for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree in Forest Resource Management or related field and 4 years of related work experience.

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)

Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
