The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides supportive, preventive, protective, public health and intervention services that safeguard the public health and assists our customers in meeting their needs.


The State Forensic Service is part of the Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHS) within DHHS and is physically located at Riverview Psychiatric Center.  The State Forensic Service oversees court ordered mental health evaluations that address a variety of psycholegal issues.  The office contracts with many independent examiners and provides consultation to judges, attorneys, courts, hospitals, and others.      

Job duties:

 As the State Forensic Service Office Manager (Clerk IV) you will:

  • Review and develop office procedure to ensure record accuracy, security, and ease of access.
  • Coordinate contracts with all independent examiners and workshop/seminar presenters.
  • Oversee examiner invoicing.
  • Manage office support services and provide administrative functions for the Director.
  • Exercise independence in making judgements and decisions requiring interpretation of policies, rules, regulations and laws.
  • Be adaptable to changes in priorities with limited supervision.
  • Must have, or be able to develop, a good knowledge base and skills in Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Publisher, Outlook; AdvantageME and ACES.
  • Be responsible for making out of state travel arrangements according to state policy.
  • Field contacts to the Director in a manner that requires tact, professionalism and respect for confidentiality and privilege of information being communicated.
  • Manage data gathering from various internal sources to comply with requests by the Director.   


 Six (6) years of responsible clerical experience to include two (2) years performing supervision or performing highly independent clerical work.

Value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 14.47% of pay   
Value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $14.31 biweekly

Value of State-paid Health Insurance*:

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2019.
