Utility Analyst/Public Services Coordinator III (Deputy Director)

The Maine Public Utilities Commission is seeking a Deputy Director of the Commission’s Consumer Assistance and Safety Division.  This Division is responsible for administering the Commission’s consumer assistance, damage prevention, and pipeline safety programs.  The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the Division’s consumer assistance functions, including eight consumer assistance staff, and will assist the Director with developing policy in the area of consumer assistance.  In addition, this position may also participate in formal Commission proceedings, including establishment of rates, customer service policies, and Commission rules.  The selected candidate will also provide routine operational oversight to the Division in the Director’s absence.

 

The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Public or Business Administration or other related field and have at least four years of public service or relevant private sector experience in management and/or consumer assistance.  The ideal candidate will also demonstrate excellent decision-making skills and judgment and excellent writing and oral communication skills.  Experience in utility regulation and complaint resolution is desirable.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
