Job duties:

 As a Mental Health Field Nurse in the Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services in Augusta, your job will focus on monitoring, evaluating, and making recommendations for mental health services to improve the lives of clients.  You will be part of a team that uses evidence-based practices guidelines to make improvements in treatment planning and practices. 
Duties include:

  • Participating in a team environment, in monitoring and evaluating contract compliance to include agency site visits;
  • Performing reviews of involuntary psychiatric admissions;
  • Consulting on client needs and recommending possible treatment options to assist providers in development of appropriate treatment plans;
  • Participating, as requested, in the admission process to PNMI’s and skilled nursing facilities in order to assure proper placement;
  • Completing record reviews to determine adequacy of treatment planning;
  • Serving on departmental committees to provide input on mental health nursing needs in program planning;
  • Participation in case reviews for quality improvement, compliance review, and contract enforcement;
  • Conducting site reviews/ audits, provide technical assistance to providers and written recommendations in a timely manner.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field and two (2) years nursing experience -OR- graduation from an accredited school of nursing and three (3) years’ experience as a professional nurse.  Experience must include one (1) year supervisory experience in the nursing field.

 

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A license as a Registered Nurse as issued by the Maine State Board of Nursing.

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2019.
