JOB DESCRIPTION
MaineDOT Fleet Services is seeking to fill two Welder/Fabricator positions which perform structure and craft work in welding and the fabrication, modification, maintenance and repair of a variety of metal objects fixtures and industrial equipment associated with construction related jobs. One of the two positions will primarily focus on painting using pressure pot spray guns and spray equipment, fiberglass, collision repair and automotive and industrial coatings. Work involves disassembly design, assembly, repair and maintenance of a variety of metal and nonmetal materials and equipment. Duties include fabricating structures from blueprints and sketches, operating heavy vehicles and construction equipment and providing oversight to others engaged in performing welding duties. Work is performed under general supervision. Preference will be given to individuals who possess welding/fabrication experience on heavy construction vehicles and/or automotive type bodywork and painting experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of experience, education, and/or training in welding, metal fabrication and/or related field which provides a basic knowledge of metallurgical science, blueprint, programming and operation of computer-controlled machines, welding techniques and joining methods. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Must obtain a State of Maine class B CDL with endorsements and pass the Maine DOT Welder Certification as a condition of successfully completing probation.
