BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Maine Marine Patrol is currently accepting applications to fill a Marine Patrol Specialist position in Boothbay Harbor.  The primary responsibility of this position is as a boat captain of a 35-foot patrol vessel, as well as the duties associated with that of a Marine Patrol Officer.  This is uniformed conservation law enforcement work involving the enforcement of marine resource laws, recreational boating laws, saltwater sport fishing laws, search and rescue, and homeland security.  Work is performed under general supervision.

 

Candidates for this position must have experience operating vessels of this size in the marine environment.  Preference will be given to candidates holding a license as Master of 50 gross tons or higher.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Licensure by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry passengers for hire is required before the employee may attain permanent status in this job class.
