The Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) within DHHS is responsible for ensuring the safety, support and well-being of adults throughout Maine.

Job duties:

 The Office of Aging and Disability Services has made it a priority to have “live” answering of telephone lines.  As the Office Assistant II, you will play a key role with helping callers, including consumers, family members, providers, other state employees.  Duties include: 


  • Answer main telephone lines for OADS Central Office and Augusta Regional Office; help callers and quickly route callers to correct resources.
  • Create spreadsheets and perform data entry and management.
  • Organize, record, and maintain computerized and manual files.
  • Operate technical office materials and equipment according to set procedures.
  • Perform multiple office support functions related to business and other OADS operational needs.
  • Comply with confidentiality requirements and other security protocol.
  • Provide excellent customer service.


 To qualify, you must have competency in applying a general knowledge of modern office processes to perform routine, varied office support tasks often requiring the operation of technical or office equipment.  You must have the ability to use independent judgment in prioritizing the work and selecting the most appropriate course of action within set procedures.

Value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 14.47% of pay   
Value of State-paid Dental Insurance:  $14.31 biweekly

Value of State-paid Health Insurance*:

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2019.
