The mission for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC), within which this position is located, is to develop and deliver services to preserve, protect, and promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Maine.

Job duties:

 As one of the Office Associate IIs in the Public Health Nursing Division, you will be responsible for administrative support to the Public Health Nurses within Maine CDC. Responsibilities require independent decision-making abilities, a solid knowledge of modern office practices, excellent customer service, and accuracy due to excellent attention to detail.

You will also:
• Create medical charts for new referrals
• Order supplies and assist field nurses with equipment and supply needs
• Process and code invoices in the State of Maine accounting system (AdvantageMe)
• Attend and assist with monthly clinics in Lewiston, Portland, and other locations in Maine as determined
• Arrange travel and lodging for Public Health Nurse staff
• Register staff for workshops, trainings, and orientation sessions
• Explain and interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.  All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of:  Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I.

 

Preferred candidates will also have:

 

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent level of accuracy in all work
  • Ability to prioritize assigned tasks to meet deadlines
  • Experience with the State of Maine accounting system (AdvantageMe)

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2019.
