 The mission for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC), within which this position is located, is to develop and deliver services to preserve, protect, and promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Maine.

Job duties:

 You will serve as the Womens, Infants and Children Nutrition Program Vendor Manager with in the Maine CDC. You will be responsible for Vendor Management and the WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. The Maine WIC Nutrition Program serves as an adjunct to health care during critical times of growth and development.  The Program provides nutrition and health education, nutritious foods and health and social service referrals to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to age 5.

 You will also:

  • Compile and distribute reports to the Local Agencies and the Federal government
  • Plan and facilitate vendor work plans for EBT rollout
  • Work with vendors
  • Participate in calls for the Spirit system
  • Review reports from the Vendor Specialist
  • Provide support for the local agencies and vendors


 A Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a closely related field and three (3) years’ professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, and/or evaluation of health programs or services – OR – an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education, training, and experience.

 Preferred candidates will also have:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Vendors and the WIC program
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Spirit system
  • Ability to work with managers and staff to identify training needs and research information for training/meeting opportunities, or to provide outreach materials.

Level 1:  100% State Contribution = $461.75 biweekly (employee pays nothing)
Level 2:  95% State Contribution = $438.66 biweekly (Employee pays: 5%)
Level 3:  90% State Contribution = $415.58 biweekly (Employee pays: 10%)
Level 4:  85% State Contribution = $392.49 biweekly (Employee pays: 15%)
*The level of actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program as of July 1, 2019.
