This is entry level technical engineering support work.  The incumbent is responsible for the inspection and documentation of work performed by outside contractors.  Experience in the following areas is desirable:  Quantity computations; reading and/or drafting of bridge and highway plans; basic surveying; use of personal computers; jobsite safety.  Duties shall include basic construction inspection, structural concrete inspection and testing (candidates with ACI certification for field testing of concrete preferred), documenting construction activities and material test values, measuring in-place material quantities, ensuring proper location of contractors’ traffic control devices, and providing assistance to higher level technicians and Residents on a variety of construction and engineering functions.   Other duties may involve assisting in the development of projects, such as plan development using Microstation software, quantity and cost estimating or performing right-of-way functions. Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including the public, and must be able to work in partnership with contractors.  Work is performed under general supervision.  The ability to travel statewide for overnight and extended stays is required.


Three (3) years of experience in engineering or a related technical field–OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
