PURPOSE OF ANNOUNCMENT: 

The Education in the Unorganized Territory has one full-time Teaching Principal position available at the Kingman Elementary School, Kingman Twp. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a professional services administrative position at the Kingman Elementary School, part of the EUT system in Kingman, Maine.  Responsibilities include supervision of all staff (professional, technical and clerical), development and overseeing academic progress, staff development and direct instruction for students with disabilities.  This position also requires securing all support personnel as determined by Individual IEP meetings, supervising operations, maintenance, buses, school community relationships and fund administration.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS: (Assignments include but are not limited to the following).

  • Plans, organizes, assigns, and directs the work activities of subordinate staff to facilitate attainment of unit goals and ensure consistent application of applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Confers with and counsels subordinate staff to exchange information, identify problems, and develop solutions.
  • Defines purpose, goals, and objectives for educational services and develops operating plans to implement and administer educational service programs.
  • Confers with clients, staff, and significant others and assesses severity and type of problems and client status and progress to conduct case review and formulate or revise client educational and training program.
  • Reviews and evaluates program performance and effectiveness and client outcomes to ensure educational standards, policies, and guidelines are met.
  • Assigns work and provides guidance to teachers about educational objectives, curriculum, expectations, and performance standards in order to help them design individualized educational programs.
  • Teaches, demonstrates, and conducts classes for developmentally disabled clients to increase specific knowledge and/or skill or improve behavior traits of clients.
  • Counsels and advises students in terms of their personal and educational behavior in school, initial school placement and schedule making, academic standing and future possible school and/or career opportunities to enhance their opportunities upon return to the community.
  • Instructs residents in academic subjects to comply with state law.
  • Writes educational grants to secure funds to maintain various educational programs.
  • Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures and practices such as: AA/EEO, recruitment, employment, position classification, performance appraisals, training, discipline, contract administration, human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies, and employee safety.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: (These are among the requirements to successfully perform the work assigned).

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of educational administration.
  • Knowledge of teaching methods and practices.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.

  • Ability to write clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to develop program goals and objectives.

  • Ability to use applicable computer programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current, valid Principal’s Certificate, Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement, A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and three (3) years’ experience in education.

  • Level 1:  100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing):  $444.68 biweekly
  • Level 2:  95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%):  $422.45 biweekly
  • Level 3:  90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%):  $400.21 biweekly
  • Level 4:  85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%):  $377.98 biweekly

 

*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
